AMD hardware, ATI Catalyst™ 10.6 and Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 enable superior image quality for video playback and streaming online video.

Every minute, more than 24 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube indicating that image quality is an increasingly important part of the PC experience.1 With this in mind, AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced improvements to its ATI Catalyst™ 10.6 driver suite that further strengthen the company’s leadership position in image quality as measured by the HQV® Benchmark, Version 2.0. AMD scored 48 percent better than the competition in discrete graphics and up to 87 percent better than the competition in integrated graphics.2 In addition, AMD supports the newly released Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 technology for more seamless video playback from popular online video sites.

At Computex 2010, AMD (NYSE: AMD) delivered the first public demonstration of an AMD Fusion processor, initiating the accelerated processing era. The AMD Fusion™ Family of Accelerated Processing Units (APUs) represents a significant shift in processor architecture and capabilities, combining high-performance serial computing and parallel graphics processing cores onto a single die to improve visual and data-intensive tasks that are pervasive in today’s computing environments. AMD today announced that Quad-Core AMD Opteron™ processors now power 37 platforms from global OEMs, nine of which are designed with virtualization in mind. With Dell’s latest M905 PowerEdge blade server introduced today, AMD and Dell can claim the only 16-core x86 server to support 11 tiles or 66 Virtual Machines (VM) in VMmark performance testing1.
