Opera Software announced that USEN has selected the Opera Devices SDK 9.5 for its new set-top box, GyaO NEXT. People using the GyaO NEXT set-top box (STB) can access IPTV content such as movies, TV dramas, music programs, karaoke games and animated content. With Opera included, users can also enjoy interactive Web-based content. Opera was made available from August 11 as a firmware upgrade.

Users can surf their favorite Web sites with the remote controller. With its intuitive interface, users can can scroll up and down, go forward and backward and reload pages easily. The input style, similar to a mobile phone, also simplifies text entry. Also, there is now no need to go to your computer to look something up you see on TV. Opera on GyaO NEXT makes your TV and Web experience seamless.

“The time when television was a device only for receiving content is over. GyaO NEXT provides a full Web experience on your TV in addition to your favorite video contents,” said Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera. “We are pleased to see our One Web strategy is now spreading to people’s living rooms.”
