SingTel delivers Nokia Messaging to Singapore consumers

Singapore – SingTel and Nokia will deliver Nokia Messaging on the Nokia E63 with special data plans for SingTel mobile subscribers in Singapore to drive mobile messaging adoption for its customers using Nokia devices. SingTel will be the first operator in Asia, and among the first in the world to launch this offering on 4 April 2009.

As a special introductory offer, SingTel subscribers who purchase a Nokia E63 device with a MobileM@il Plus data plan for two years at SGD 5.35/month will have the Nokia Messaging built-in push email service included without additional charge. (Normal subscription price is SGD 17.86).

PANASONIC EXPANDS ITS AWARD WINNING LINE OF VIERA

Panasonic Corporation of North America , the industry leader in high definition Plasma and LCD televisions, introduced its expanded line of VIERA HDTVs at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show. Building upon its award winning portfolio of high definition televisions, Panasonic will broaden its offering in 2009 by introducing new screen sizes in Plasma with a new 54-inch class plasma. Panasonic, a major developer and contributor to the success of the Blu-ray format, recently introduced the successors to last year’s award winning DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55 players, as well as presenting the world’s first Blu-ray-VHS dual player. All three of the new Blu-ray players – DMP-BD60, DMP-BD80, DMP-BD70V – combine high quality images with enhanced networking functions, including VIERA Cast’s improved internet functionality that provides access to Amazon VOD’s huge selection of titles. Continuing its commitment to producing products that stress ease of use, the 2009 line of Blu-ray Disc™ players continue to incorporate VIERA Link™, allowing the consumer to operate their audio/video components, via HDMI, with one remote. And, in keeping with Panasonic’s pledge to reduce the planet’s carbon footprint, the new Blu-ray players have been designed to reduce power consumption. Lenovo pioneers next generation of display technology

Lenovo announced the latest additions to its ThinkVision monitor portfolio that pioneer a new level of energy-efficiency for PC displays. Delivering outstanding performance, the new ThinkVision L1700p, L1940 Wide, L1940p Wide, L2240p Wide, L2440p Wide and L2440x Wide monitors use 30-60 percent less energy than previous ThinkVision models[1], are EPEAT Gold rated and GREENGUARD certified, and include packaging for select models with 65 percent recycled materials.

Lenovo announced two new ThinkPad notebooks that significantly address the key factors mobile computer users consider today – light weight, long battery life and usability. With models starting at just 2.4 pounds[1] and with models offering maximum battery life lasting up to more than 13 hours[2], the ThinkPad X200s notebook leads Lenovo’s business-class notebook portfolio for lightest weight and longest battery life. Lenovo’s new ThinkPad X200 Tablet PC also leads the industry for its light weight design, with models shedding almost 10 percent over the previous generation Tablet PC’s weight. Additionally, the Tablet PC also offers models with nearly 50 percent longer battery life.

Opera brings a new entertainment experience to your TV

Opera Software announced that USEN has selected the Opera Devices SDK 9.5 for its new set-top box, GyaO NEXT. People using the GyaO NEXT set-top box (STB) can access IPTV content such as movies, TV dramas, music programs, karaoke games and animated content. With Opera included, users can also enjoy interactive Web-based content. Opera was made available from August 11 as a firmware upgrade.

NEC LCD Technologies Announces New 9.0-inch Wide-Format LCD Module

NEC LCD Technologies, together with its sales and marketing channels in the Americas and Europe, NEC Electronics America, Inc., and NEC Electronics (Europe) GmbH, introduced a new 9.0-inch (23 centimeters diagonal) amorphous-silicon thin-film-transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) module, part number NL8048BC24-04, with wide video graphics array (WVGA) resolution for industrial equipment, including factory automation and measurement equipment.
The new module incorporates NEC LCD Technologies’ proprietary ultra-advanced, super-fine TFT (UA-SFT) technology that enables superior viewing angles without compromising brightness or color gamut. In addition, the module has been designed with wide-format resolution to meet the rising demand for such in various industrial applications.

Royal Philips Electronics is offering lighting designers, architects and artists from all disciplines a unique OLED technology ‘starter kit’, so that they can discover for themselves why OLEDs are going to be the lighting sensation of the coming years.
